Councillors to consider Local Area Plan

FINGAL County Councillors will meet on May 13 to consider a Draft Local Area Plan (LAP) for Baldoyle/Stapolin.

The provision of a Primary Care Centre to serve the catchment area of Baldoyle and Clongriffin is just one of the items that will be considered in the report.

A site near Clongriffin DART Station is being proposed in the LAP, while it’s understood that a submission has also been made for a site close to Grange Road.

According to Mayor of Fingal, Cllr Cian O’Callaghan (Lab), local residents have

“mixed views

? on which of these sites would be most suitable, but more importantly they want to see it built as quickly as possible.

“The long-standing objective is to have a health centre in Baldoyle,

? Cllr O’ Callaghan told Northside People.

“The HSE wants a centre to cover both Baldoyle and Clongriffin areas.

“It’s a bit of a dilemma really. There is a solid argument for both sites. The rationale for the Grange Road site is that it would be more attractive to GPs.

“However, the other site could help build up a new town centre that is being proposed for

‘The Coast’ and attract new businesses.

Cllr O’Callaghan said he still hasn’t fully decided on which site he will vote in favour of.

A spokeswoman for Fingal County Council said the Local Area Plan went out on public display between February 6 and March 21.

“The manager’s report on this public consultation was then prepared and will be presented to the elected members at the full council meeting on Monday, May 13, for consideration,

? she told Northside People.

“Unfortunately, until it is presented to the councillors, we cannot pre-empt or comment on the contents of the report.

A spokeswoman for the HSE said it has identified Baldoyle as a location for the provision of a new Primary Care Centre (PCC).

“Centric Healthcare has been selected to develop the PCC via an operational lease mechanism,

? she told Northside People.

“A site has been identified which is accessible off the Grange Road which satisfies the needs of all parties involved.

“This site is within the area which is currently under the consideration of Fingal County Council in the development of a Local Area Plan (LAP).

“Following publication of the LAP all outstanding PCC issues and timescales will be finalised.

It’s expected that the council will adopt the Local Area Plan in the autumn.
