Student rewarded for volunteer work

TRINITY Comprehensive student, Aaron Fallon, was rewarded for his volunteer work at Ballymun Regional Youth Resource (BRYR) at a recent national awards ceremony in Kilkenny.

Aaron (16) has been a member of BRYR for the past six years and a leader for the past two. His responsibilities include taking a leading role in a programme that gets the community’s youth involved in art, music, dance and sports.
The fifth year student is the longest standing member of the BRYR festival youth committee and helps organise two major local events a year: Otherworld (Ballymun Halloween Festival) and Lift (Ballymun Youth Art Festival).
He also liaises with local businesses and looks after public relations as well as playing a big part in the BRYR music club committee. Other strings to his bow include organising many successful events such as the BRYR Arts Extravaganza and BRYR’s Pride 2011 and 2012.
?Aaron is a person who believes in giving back to his community,
? says Tanya Ray, coordinator of BRYR.

Last month Aaron was among 17 students nationwide who were rewarded for their volunteer work at the Pramerica Spirit of Community Awards.
He was one of three Dublin students to be honoured, the others being Gráinne Nà Bhroin, a fourth-year student in Coláiste Chois Life, Lucan and Vincentas Glusinkas, a third-year student at Larkin Community College.
