Children’s Hospital appeal launched
Dublin People 02 Mar 2013
GIFT card specialists One4all has teamed up with the Children’s Medical & Research Foundation at Our Lady’s Children’s Hospital for a month long fundraiser.

The One Euro for Our Lady’s Children’s Hospital appeal will run throughout March and will help the hospital raise life-saving funds.
One4all will donate e1 to Our Lady’s for every gift card purchased during the month and RTE broadcaster Joe Duffy is backing the appeal.
“When a child you love is sick your top priority is finding the best available care and the promise of a new children’s hospital cannot divert our attention away from the children who need our care now,
? he said.
“Ireland’s sickest kids do not have time on their side. You only have to say the words Crumlin Children’s Hospital and everyone in Ireland knows what you’re talking about – helping sick children.
“Supporting this campaign will help raise vital funds to help fix Crumlin now!
?
The money raised through the One Euro appeal will be used in the Fix Crumlin campaign that supports the hospital’s Children’s Medical and Research Foundation.
That campaign aims to raise enough funds to build a vital new cardiac unit and a cancer ward for young patients at the hospital.
Professor Owen Smith, Department of Paediatric Haematology and Oncology at Our Lady’s Hospital, explained why funds were so badly needed.
“The cancer journey for a child or adolescent is a very tough one indeed, not only for the patient but also for the siblings, parents and grandparents. In other words the whole family unit – a pillar of our society. The Fix Crumlin campaign is all about making that journey as smooth and palatable as possible and restoring dignity to all
?.
The
‘Fix Crumlin’ campaign has already raised e4 million, but another e4 million is needed to renovate the cardiac and cancer care facilities by summer 2013.
