Dublin People 27 Feb 2013
MEMBERS of a Rathfarnham gym have secured their place on the Irish kettle bell team after achieving fantastic results in a recent competition.

The small team from Allover Fitness managed to sweep up the medals at the recent National All Ireland Kettle Bell lifting championships in Tramore.
Their outstanding results have led to them qualifying to represent Ireland at the European Kettle Bell lifting championships in Wexford in May where they will compete with teams from countries from all over Europe.
Club owner Damien Carey, from Ballinteer, took the gold in the 24kg men’s category.
Shane Monaghan, also from Ballinteer, took another gold in the 24kg category men’s category.
And Jenny McGovern of Rathfarnham won gold in 16kg ladies category.
Other team members including Stephen Tiernan from Milltown also took gold in the 16kg men’s category while the youngest team member, Aoife Garland (21) from Ballinteer, took silver in the 12kg ladies category in her first ever competition.
According to Damien, kettle bells is a growing competition sport that Ireland has proved hugely successful at.
“I am extremely proud that some of our small team have qualified to represent our country,
? he said
“We are a smaller team by comparison to others around the country, but we have achieved big results. This is down to the training and commitment of our team. Having personally trained them I am very proud of their performance and it proves what I believe, that if you have a goal and are willing to commit to that goal, anything is possible.
