Back to business for brilliant Ballymun Kickhams

IT’S BACK to business for Ballymun Kickhams who are gearing up for the AIB All-Ireland senior club football final on March 17.

The talented team didn’t just do the Northside, but also the rest Dublin proud when they celebrated a well-deserved victory over Kerry team Dr Crokes recently.
They hope to continue their winning streak in their clash against Roscommon side St Brigid’s in Croke Park, which will be held on St Patrick’s Day.
The club has never before reached an All-Ireland showdown so it’s little wonder why the excitement in Ballymun is palpable.
The area will be a sea of green and red bunting and flags in the run-up to the big game.
According to club vice-chairman, Greg Flanagan, the team had a quiet celebration but getting back to playing football was their top priority.
“There’s no messing with these fellas,
? Greg told Northside People.
“It’s great for the lads who’ve worked hard to get this far and we’re hoping they’ll go all the way now.
“It’s great for the community. There’s a great buzz around the place.

The Ballymun club, which featured in Celebrity Bainisteoir three years ago when they were mentored by radio DJ and TV presenter, MairÂead Farrell, were the underdogs going into the semi-final with Dr Crokes.
“We’ve always been the underdogs,
? Greg explained.
“We’re a club with only 15 teams compared to most others clubs that can have as many as one hundred.
“We’ve been working hard over the last year and a half and we’re hoping that it’ll be our day on March 17,
? he added.
“Being honest, they’ll be as hungry as we’ll be and they’ll have the advantage in that it’s their second time to reach the final.
“But we’re hoping on the day we’ll come out on top and that luck will be on our side. My heart wants to say yeah we’ll win it but my head says the game will be won on the day.
