Residents on alert after spate of burglaries
Dublin People 26 Jan 2013
RESIDENTS of the Kingswood and Garrynisk areas of Tallaght have been warned to be extra vigilant following a spate of burglaries in the area.
According to Cllr Máire Devine (SF) many locals have been left feeling afraid and vulnerable after criminals targeted the area in recent weeks.
“I have visited homes in the area, and spoken to some very worried and vulnerable residents,
? she said.
“I have been liaising with the local gardaà and they have told me that Garrynisk/Kingswood now receive regular patrols and has been the focus of several operations targeting burglaries and other crimes.
“Operation Acer, which has been ongoing in the Dublin area for the past eight months, is an intelligence led operation in burglaries which to date has seen a number of detections of this sort of crime. Operation Acer is part of a national initiative to combat property crime. These operations include checkpoints and are subject to close monitoring and review by Garda management.

Cllr Devine added: “I also welcome the recent reversal of the cut to funding for personal alarms. This would only have saved a pittance and defeat the objective of keeping senior residents secure and safe in their own homes.
