Mixed fortunes for local basketball teams

LOCAL basketball players, representing Northside schools, travelled across the city last week to take part in the All Ireland Schools Cup Finals at the National Basketball Arena (NBA) in Tallaght.

Portmarnock Community School lifted the Under 19C Girls’ title following a 50-37 victory over Mount Anville.

Pobail Scoil Neasain, Baldoyle and Holy Faith Clontarf had to settle for runners-up prizes when they were defeated in the Under 16C Boys and Under 19A Girls’ finals respectively.

Colaiste Ailigh (Letterkenny) defeated Pobail Scoil Neasain 39-34, while Holy Faith Clontarf lost out to Colaiste Ide & Iosef Abbeyfeale (Limerick) on a scoreline of 59-42.
