Young goat rescued
Dublin People 12 Jan 2013
A SIX-MONTH-OLD goat is recovering after being found at the side of a road in North Dublin where he was badly neglected and tied up with a short chain.
The young billy goat, which was rescued from The Ward, was tied up with a chain that had lacerated its neck.
A concerned member of the public contacted the DSPCA, which dispatched an ambulance driver to rescue the helpless animal last Wednesday, January 9.
According to Gillian Bird of the DSPCA, the goat was starving and dehydrated when he was brought to their headquarters.
“It had been tied up for at least three days without food or water and the chain used to tie him up had cut into his neck which had become infected,
? she stated.
“It was yet another case of neglect and confirms the desperate need for the new Animal Health and Welfare bill which we’re waiting for the Government to sign off on.
“The bill will require all animal owners to check on their animals every 24 hours.
