Festive celebration for Snowflakes

AUTISM support group Snowflakes held a fabulous Christmas Party for its member families in Applewood Community Centre in Swords on Saturday, December 15.

Over 80 children, along with their parents, were entertained for two hours by a magic show, a Punch and Judy performance and a mini disco, while they waited patiently for their turn to visit Santa’s Grotto.

Everyone had a great day and nobody left disappointed. Even Santa Claus agreed that none of the Snowflakes or their siblings were naughty, and for being so nice throughout the year they all left happy with a present from the big man, as well as a selection box and a special Snowflakes cup-cake.

The Christmas party was the last event in what has been an extremely busy and successful year for Snowflakes Autism Support. Through the sheer hard work of a group of volunteers, who themselves all have children with autism, they have crammed a huge amount into the space of 11 months since setting up in January.

During that time, they have enhanced greatly the lives of families affected by autism in North Dublin and beyond.

Snowflakes autism support will be one year in existence in January, and to celebrate its first birthday, will be holding a birthday party on Friday, January 18 in Sportslink, Santry.
