Bride’s friend wins Lotto on her big day

MOST brides would hold a grudge against one of their best friends if they didn’t turn up at the most special occasion of their lives – their wedding day.

But the opposite was true when Southsider Ciara Ni Chleirigh from Blackrock skipped her friend Mary O’Sullivan’s wedding and instead appeared on the National Lottery Winning Streak Gameshow to collect the bride’s winnings.

Saturday, October 27 is a day Mary, from Greencastle in Donegal, will never forget. It’s the day she got married and won

?¬32,700.

Happily, with the help of her friend, Ciara, everything worked out on the day. Ciara, whose mother works with Mary, happily agreed to skip the wedding and appear on the Winning Streak TV Game Show on Mary’s behalf, where she went on to win the

?¬32,700 for her friend.

Mary and her new husband Eoin tied the knot in Moville on the same day.

Ciara is a second year student of Optometry at Dublin Institute of Technology. She is an Irish speaker. She plays a lot of hockey and also plays the viola. Mary plans to put her winnings towards a deposit for a property in Dublin.
