Soccer club backs suicide awareness organisation
Dublin People 27 Oct 2012
SUICIDE Awareness Dublin 15 and Castleknock Celtic FC have struck up a partnership agreement that will benefit both organisations and could potentially save lives.
The partnership will see Castleknock Celtic don the Suicide Awareness logo on their Under-19s football jerseys for the next two years.
Suicide Awareness Dublin 15 spokesperson Felix Gallagher said the organisation was delighted with the deal which will also see the erection of promotional signs around the clubhouse.
“It will make hundreds of visitors aware of our service on a weekly basis,
? said Mr Gallagher.
“Unfortunately there have been several suicides in the area in recent times, so raising awareness locally is timely. I would encourage anyone who is feeling down to contact us and get free, confidential support.
“I would like to thank Castleknock Celtic for agreeing to promote our logo and for the professionalism they have shown.
?
Castleknock Celtic club secretary Tony Jordan attended the promotion of the project at the club’s headquarters in Porterstown and said the club was only too pleased to support the project.
“Any initiatives to help counter this growing problem are to be welcomed wholeheartedly, especially where it affords those suffering to seek assistance in strict confidence at a critical time,
? he said.
Mr Jordan also expressed his thanks to the club’s kit suppliers, Jako sportswear manufacturers, for part-sponsoring the jerseys displaying the Suicide Awareness Dublin 15 logo.
