Dublin ladies celebrate golf triumph

DUBLIN City Golf Club won the Miele All-Ireland Ladies’ Interclub Fourball final at Westmanstown Golf Club, defeating a courageous Clonmel team in the final.

The Dublin side had the better start on a damp morning and were up in two matches, level in one and down in one after nine holes and duly went on to win the top two matches by 2 and 1 and 3 and 2 margins.

It was now very much an uphill battle for Clonmel who needed to win the remaining two matches by a greater number of holes up to City’s tally of five.

Therefore, once the matches were still alive through the 16th and 17th respectively there could be no comeback for Clonmel so both matches were called in to allow Dublin City’s celebrations begin.
