GENERATIONS of families were brought together last week with a day of celebrations held in Scoil Mobhí in Glasnevin.

The school, which is celebrating its 40th anniversary, was a hive of activity last Friday (September 28) when the pupils brought their grandparents to school with them to mark Grandparents Day.

Over 200 people attended the day, which was made even more special and memorable with the re-launch of a book titled St Mobhí of Glasnevin.

The book, which was originally written in 1931 by local historian and former school principal Donal O’Carroll, details the life of St Mobhí and the influence he had among other saints.

Fittingly, Donal O’Carroll’s own great grandchildren Tara and Barry O’Carroll, who attend Scoil Mobhí, lent a helping hand for the launch of the book, all proceeds of which go towards the school refurbishment scheme.

And Donal’s son, Cian O’Carroll, also shared in the special day with his grandchildren.

According to school Principal Imelda Mhic Mhathána, the community spirit among those involved in the school is what makes it so special.

“We call the community spirit Muinter Mobhí,

? she told Northside People.

“There is a wonderful depth of kindness and support from the families who come through here for the school and for others.
