Neighbourhood award winners congratulated

COMMUNITIES across the Northside were celebrating recently when the results of the 2012 North Central Area City Neighbourhood Awards were announced.

In the Residential section, Rathmore Park, Raheny, were the winners in the 1:150 category; Ard Na Greine, Ayrfield, won the 300+ category; Nabco, Newtown Court, Malahide Road, won both the Flat Complex and the Community Garden/Allotment categories; Donnycarney West Community Association won the Community Environment Initiative; Raheny Tidy Village Group won the Urban Village category and the Howth Road, Raheny – Raheny Tidy Village Group won the Mixed Use Street category.
In addition, in the Business section, The Inn, Raheny, won Best Shop Front; the Bell Building, Darndale Village Centre, won Best Environment Initiative; Clontarf Business Association won best Waste Management Initiative; and Clarehall Shopping Centre won best Sustainability Initiative. In the Special Category section Clarehall Shopping Centre won Best New Entry and Clonshaugh Newbury Swiftsgrove won the Endeavour Award.
At the awards ceremony held at St Brigid’s Centre, Killester, Dublin North East TD Tommy Broughan (Lab) congratulated all the winners.
“Yet again there was an outstanding performance from residents’ associations, communities and businesses across Dublin City Council’s North Central Area in 2012,
? said Deputy Broughan.
“Winning one of the City Neighbourhood Awards is a great tribute to the hard work and dedication all year round of these very impressive resident, community and business groups who do so much to maintain and enhance the local environment.
Deputy Broughan also paid tribute to the North Central Area senior official Fiona Moore and all her colleagues for their valuable work in both running the yearly competition and in hosting the annual award ceremony.
