THE modest wishes of three Northside groups were granted last week to put the icing on the cake of the hugely successful Phizzfest festival.

The wishes of the three needy groups were granted as part of voluntary-run arts festival, which celebrates all that’s good about Phibsboro.

The Make a Wish for Phibsboro competition, which was run over recent weeks, gave locals the opportunity to enter a wish for their neighbourhood groups and three worthy winners were chosen at the end of Phizzfest.

With the financial assistance of Tesco, the National Council for the Blind of Ireland (NCBI) was offered funding to purchase much-needed IT equipment for its facility on Whitworth Road.

A washing machine will also be provided for one of Phibsborough Aid’s three residential houses for the elderly and funding was also granted to help pay for new costumes for local children’s dance troupe, Topaz Twirlers.

Lord Mayor Cllr Naoise O Muírí (FG) was on hand to announce the winners of the competition at a special presentation at Tesco in Phibsboro last Wednesday, September 19.
