A YOUNG Southside woman has spoken of her delight after landing a place in the finals of this year’s Face of Ireland competition.
Lorraine Coyle (26), from Stepaside, was one of 32,000 women selected to enter the prestigious competition, which is now in its sixth year.
“I’m delighted to have come this far. It’s been a great experience,
? Ms Coyle said.
“The competition is a great opportunity to help a lot of different charities, but this year the focus will be about highlighting the impact of suicide in society.
?
Competition organisers searched the 32 counties of Ireland looking for suitable female candidates who would have what it takes to promote the work of a number of charities.
The overall winner will act as a charity ambassador for Ireland and travel to various places throughout the world.
Ms Coyle will be required to travel to New York for St Patrick’s Day next year if she wins the prestigious title.
Her role would see her assisting with the parade and ensuring that Ireland is promoted in a positive light.
The winner of the competition will also receive a trophy, a trip for two to Spain and an array of dresses from sponsors.
They’ll also win a luxury pampering session, e1,000 worth of Jewellery and a makeover and will star in a fly-on-the-wall documentary that will be filmed over the course of the winner’s reign.
The competition will assist several charities, including a newly formed charitable organization
‘GRASP’ (Greater Responsibility & Awareness Suicide Prevention), which was set up to assist and deal with people who are thinking about suicide or families who have been affected by suicide.
Since it was founded, the Face of Ireland competition has supported charities such as The Solace Cancer Support Centre, My Sister Zoe Appeal and the MS Society.
The winner will be chosen on October 13 in the Red Cow Moran Hotel. The competition is being sponsored by Europcar this year.
