TWO sports clubs in Swords are set to benefit from the imminent opening of a new changing room facility.

Ridgewood Changing Rooms will be made available to St Finian’s GAA Club and Rivervalley Rangers FC, two local clubs that have served the community well since the 1980s.

Fingal County Manager David O’Connor said the facility is not yet complete.

“Minor snagging, painting of anti-graffiti coating, water connection and various anti-vandalism protections are all being addressed,

? stated Mr O’Connor.

“A meeting was held with representatives of both clubs regarding the allocation process and matter of utility bills, insurance, maintenance and repairs of the building.

“An agreement between the clubs and the county council will be drafted.

“When the building is complete and the agreement is in place the facility can be allocated.

Swords ward councillor Darragh Butler (FF) said he is delighted that the facility, which will include showers, will shortly be made available to the clubs.

There is a full size GAA pitch at this location and two mini soccer and two mini GAA pitches, in addition to the two mini Rathingle soccer pitches that opened last year.

“It is great that these additional resources have been made available to meet the requirements of these two great clubs and their members,

? stated Cllr Butler.

“There are a lot of clubs around Swords, of all sporting codes, looking for additional resources and facilities and I continue to make this issue one of my top priorities as a councillor.
