AUTUMN Jazz returns to Balbriggan this year bringing with it a unique fusion of jazz music and visual art.

Mayor of Fingal, Cllr Cian O’Callaghan, in the presence of Cathaoirleach of Balbriggan Town Council, Cllr Larry Dunne, launched the event in Balbriggan Town Hall.
Autumn Jazz is in its second year and the line up is something that will be of huge interest to jazz lovers and music buffs generally.
Acts performing this year include Pat Collins of the Café Orchestra, Emilie Conway, The Humbuckers, Tommy Halferty & Michel Zénino and the Hot House Big Band with special guests.
Mayor O’Callaghan said he was glad to have the opportunity to launch the event.
“It comes only two weeks after I was here for the launch of the online archives so it is clear that Balbriggan is rich in arts and culture, as well as heritage,
? he stated.
“Autumn Jazz is a wonderful opportunity for the people of Balbriggan to showcase not just the talent in the town regarding music and visual art, but it also allows everyone demonstrate that the town is a wonderful place to live, socialise and do business in and I am proud to be associated with that concept.
?
The fusion of jazz and visual art make Autumn Jazz something really special and there will be an Art Pop-Up gallery open on September 15 and 16 as part of the Jazz Trail.
The Autumn Jazz artist-in-residence is local woman, Alison O’Grady. Alison runs her own art workshops via
‘Graffic Jam’ and specialises in Visual Art Education.
The Graffic Jam workshops provide students with the opportunity to develop cognitive and creative skills, and help develop their imaginations.
“Art education provides an important balance in both children’s and teenagers’ total educational experience,
? said Alison.
