A NORTHSIDE woman is to appear in a documentary that will give viewers an insight into the lives of elite Irish Paralympic athletes.

Catherine Walsh, a visually impaired Paralympic cyclist from Swords, will feature in
‘Beyond Limits’, which is being broadcast on August 27 at 9.45pm on Setanta Sports.
Athena Media’s latest documentary – made with the support of the BAI Sound and Vision Scheme – will portray the journey of athletes who have overcome physical barriers to compete and win at the highest levels in sport.
It will also document the athletes’ personal stories, and their tremendous courage and hopes as they prepare to take part in the Paralympic Games in London, which will commence on August 29.
Ms Walsh experienced success as a track and field athlete in five previous Paralympic Games between 1992 and 2004, winning bronze in the pentathlon in Sydney in 2000.
However, five years ago she changed sport to tandem cycling and became Ireland’s first paracycling medal winner after she took home silver at the 2009 World Track Championships.
Meanwhile, Dublin North East TD Sean Kenny (Lab) has wished the athletes the best of luck as they train hard for this year’s games.
“I think it is important that we all support our Paralympians – these are top calibre athletes who are at the very peak of their abilities,
? said Deputy Kenny.
“I can’t wait to watch the games and cheer them on as they compete for Ireland. I know they will do North Dublin and Ireland very proud.
?
Other Northside athletes taking part this year will include 17-year-old Ellen Keane from Clontarf, who will be representing Ireland in a number of swimming events.
Baldoyle woman Nadine Lattimore will be competing in the Shot Putt and Discus categories, while Cathal Miller from Harmonstown will compete in the Road Time Trial and Road Race running category.
