MAYOR of Fingal Cllr Cian O’Callaghan has wished Fingal’s Paralympic athletes well, as they head for London this week.

Catherine Walsh (Swords), Nadine Lattimore (Baldoyle) and Heather Jameson (Garristown) are among the Fingal-based local athletes who will be bidding for medal glory in the English capital at the 2012 Paralympic Games.

Catherine Walsh will once again represent Ireland in cycling, Nadine Lattimore (discus and shot putt) and Heather Jameson (100m, 200m and long jump).

“As Mayor of Fingal I wish every success to the Fingal athletes,

? said Mayor O’Callaghan.

“It is a great honour for Fingal to have several top athletes competing at this level and it reflects on their determination and commitment that they have made it this far.

“I wish all our athletes the very best in their endeavours in London.

Meanwhile, Ellen Keane, from Clontarf, is among the other Dubliners looking forward to taking part in her second Paralympic Games.

Ellen participated in the 2008 Games in Beijing when she was just 13-years-of-age.

The talented and determined 17-year-old has earned her place on the starting blocks of not one but three swimming disciplines this time round.

Ellen will compete in the 100-metre butterfly, the 100-metre Individual Medley (IM) and the 100-metre breaststroke.
