CABRA Taekwon-Do fighter, Lauren Bradshaw (14), was recently welcomed to the Mansion House as a special guest of Dublin Lord Mayor, Andrew Montague.

The visit to the Mansion House, which was organised by local Sinn Féin Councillor Anthony Connaghan, was to recognise Lauren’s amazing achievement of winning gold at the recently held ITF Taekwon-Do European Championships in Sofia, Bulgaria, on May 2012.

Lauren, who trains out of Red Star Taekwon-Do based in Cabra, chatted with the Mayor and gave him a quick lesson in Taekwon-Do training.

The talented teenager, who was accompanied by her family and coach Jon Mackey, was treated to tea and biscuits in the plush surrounds of the Mansion House where she was presented with a certificate of achievement signed by the Lord Mayor.

On receiving her certificate of achievement from the Mayor Lauren said: “The past few weeks have been amazing. I’ve been back to my primary school to show the kids the medal, I’ve been in sports magazines and now this trip to the Mansion House. It has all been really something. I would like to thank Cllr Anthony Connaghan for organising this for me and my family.

Lauren has only a few more days of rest before she begins her preparations for the ITF Taekwon-Do World Championships, which take places in Estonia this coming August.

We wish her the best of luck!
