Dublin People 14 May 2012
THE Northside got a welcome boost last week following the announcement that 50 new jobs are to be created through an
?¬11 million investment in a Clonshaugh based business.
Energy management systems and services group Cylon hopes to fill the jobs over the next four years.
Minister of State at the Department of Foreign Affairs Joe Costello (Lab) made the announcement at the launch of the company’s new energy management division –
‘Cylon Active Energy’.
A number of the new jobs to be created as part of the company’s expansion will be in areas such as sales, engineering and software development while others will be created through Cylon’s graduate recruitment programme.
Minister Costello said he was delighted to see an indigenous Irish company that began as a university start-up thriving in such a challenging environment.
“The creation of up to 50 new jobs in the areas of engineering and software development, coupled with Cylon’s growing domestic and international presence reinforces Ireland’s position as a centre of excellence internationally in these fields,
? he stated.
“I look forward to hearing more about the success of Cylon in the near future.
?
Cylon, which was established in 1985, provides building control systems to maximise efficiency that are used by thousands of companies worldwide.
Sean Giblin, managing director of the Cylon Group, said the jobs and investment announcement marks the next major phase in the company’s development.
“Cylon Active Energy is a key component of our strategy to continue growing our business in Ireland and internationally and we believe it will allow us to double our sales to about e15 million by 2014,
? he stated.
Meanwhile, Nicola Dunne, general manager of Cylon Active Energy, detailed what benefit the new energy management division will have.
“We are delighted to launch what we believe is a unique service offering,
? she said.
“Cylon Active Energy already has a number of customers in Ireland, the UK and Europe.
“We recently won our first contract in the US, highlighting our unique ability to centrally monitor, analyse and manage the energy consumption of buildings regardless of geographical location, using our cloud based real-time technology and our award winning Energy Bureau based in Clonshaugh.
?
The new cloud-based energy management system allows Cylon’s clients to reduce their energy consumption, costs and carbon footprint by up to 25 per cent.
Dublin North East TD Terence Flanagan (FG) welcomed the announcement.
“It is positive news for the Clonshaugh area and it shows that international businesses have confidence in the abilities and skills of the Irish workforce,
? he said.
