This year’s EnviroCom awards were launched by Cllr John Bailey, cathaoirleach of Dún Laoghaire Rathdown County Council, and Chamber President, Neil Keenan.

WHAT do a bank, a major computer company and landscape
contractors have in common? They are all previous winners of the business
environment awards organised by the Dún Laoghaire Rathdown Chamber of Commerce.

As well as Bank of Ireland, Dell and the Association
of Landscape Contractors of Ireland, other winners since the awards began in
2007 include the Radisson Blu St Helen’s Hotel, Spring Grove Services and
Applegreen.

This year’s awards were launched by Cllr John Bailey,
cathaoirleach of Dún Laoghaire Rathdown County Council and Chamber President,
Neil Keenan.

The EnviroCom awards are aimed at local businesses,
not-for-profit organisations and Government agencies. They set out to recognise
the best examples of energy management, waste prevention, water conservation
and environmental innovation.

Margaret Coles, the Green Business Officer with the
county council, said:

“The judging panel assesses entries for the EnviroCom Awards
on the basis of benefits to the environment, originality, innovation, and the
social or economic benefits to the communities involved.

The Waste/Water Category is supported by WEEE Ireland
and has two awards

‘Best Example of Water, Conservation’, and

‘Best Example of
Waste Prevention’.
