Dublin People 09 Mar 2012
NORTHSIDERS are being asked to help the Irish Cancer
Society reach this year’s Daffodil Day target, which has been set at
?¬3.5
million.
This year’s 25th annual event will take place on
Friday, March 23.
Dell Ireland is in their second year as principle sponsors
of Daffodil Day, having committed to a three-year partnership with the Irish
Cancer Society.
In addition to providing financial support, Dell
Ireland’s 2,300 employees in their Dublin and Limerick campuses are supporting
the campaign by volunteering time and expertise to the Irish Cancer Society in
the lead up to the event.
Caroline Grant, HR Director Dell Ireland, said they
were delighted to continue supporting the Irish Cancer Society and the event.
“We have worked closely with the Irish Cancer Society
to help ensure that this year’s event is the most successful ever,
? stated Ms
Grant.
“This has been a fantastic partnership for us as it
has been an opportunity for our employees to work together for a cause that is
close to many people’s hearts.
“We are delighted that we have also been able to tap
into our team’s technical capability and creativity to add a number of
additional social media activities and consumer campaigns to enrich the
campaign even further and hopefully, to help raise additional funds as a
result.

The monies raised on Daffodil Day are channelled
directly into improving the lives of those living with cancer and their
families.
Such funds are allocated to the provision of free
direct patient services including the staffing of the national cancer helpline,
the provision of free home care day and night nursing, the funding of 16
hospital based oncology liaison nurses and financial aid to cancer patients.
John McCormack, chief executive of the Irish Cancer
Society, said that since Daffodil Day began in 1988 they have seen a massive
increase in the demand for services due to the ever-increasing incidence of
cancer.
“Now, more than ever, the services we provide are
crucial,
? stated Mr McCormack.
“The money we raise on Daffodil Day goes directly to
support people with cancer and their families at every stage of the cancer
journey.
“We are also very grateful to Dell for continuing to
provide its support to this important fundraising campaign.
