Northside band holds the key to success
Dublin People 25 Feb 2012
THE Northside People reported a little while back on
an Artane band destined for big things.

Keywest have come such a long way since that article
was written. Having released their debut album on February 24, the road to
success is getting shorter by the month as this hard working band appears to be
getting more attention from the media as time goes on.
The build-up to the release of their long awaited
album,
‘The Message’, was carefully geared towards gaining an audience.
They have toured around the country visiting several
schools as part of the HeadsUp campaign, a mental health awareness project
aimed at young people.
This has enabled the five-piece band to create a
foundation on which to build their fan base, particularly with the then
imminent release of their album.
On top of the tour around Ireland’s secondary schools,
the band has been performing live at Ireland’s regional radio stations to
showcase their talents.
Airplay
As a result they received some critical acclaim and
radio airplay, most notably on Will Leahy’s show on RTE 2FM where their latest
single,
‘In The Fight For Love’, was named
‘Song of the Week’ at the beginning
of February.
The album is bound to generate yet more comparisons to
‘The Script’ with its brand of acoustic-pop rock, forlorn lyrics about love,
loss and strong, versatile vocals.
Love
The majority of the album is made of easy-on-the-ear
love songs, and it is not until towards the end of the album that fans are
treated to a glimpse of what this Northside band is really about.
The element that sets them apart from the many similar
bands that have been circulating the music industry for the past few years is
no doubt their talent as musicians.
It is not uncommon to see a comparison to
‘The
Script’, followed by an emphasis on how the wailing guitar and thumping drum
sequences makes them that little more credible as a rock band.
With the excitement surrounding the band it is no
surprise that, as time goes on, Keywest is becoming a household name in
Ireland.
If you missed the Artane boys playing in The Academy,
Abbey Street, on February 25, you can catch them on March 23 in the same venue
for a concert in aid of the Make-A-Wish Foundation.
