Talented Candice set to cause a stir

STARDOM BECKONS: Candice Gordon is set to make a stir in the music business.

IRELAND is undoubtedly a hot bed for music talent.
Unfortunately, however, some of the country’s brightest gems go relatively
unnoticed despite being incredibly gifted until people start talking and
writing about them.

One singer-songwriter who is guaranteed to make a stir
in the not-too-distant future is Candice Gordon who hails from Raheny.

The songstress has had her fair share of culture
adaptations having been born in Botswana and moved to Dublin in 1989.

She has also lived in France and London, perfecting
her skills as an artist, singer and musician from a very young age.

Gordon has already had a taste of success having
performed at Bestival, a much revered music festival on the Isle of Wight, and
most notably, collaborating with Shane McGowan on her debut album

‘before the
sunset ends’, something for which most young musicians would make unknowing
sacrifices.

The album is a wonderful mix of dark yet somehow sexy
tunes that have already earned Gordon comparisons to Janis Joplin and PJ
Harvey, both considered rock goddesses of their respective eras.

This is undoubtedly flattering for Raheny’s brightest
star. However, while the comparisons are inevitable it would be a shame to
overlook the uniqueness of this wonderful singer-songwriter.

Unlike a lot of artists out there, she seems to avoid
sticking to the stereotypes of her genre, often mixing elements of folk,
rockabilly and soul into her otherwise pure rock sound.

She is unlike every other Irish singer-songwriter and
deserves the support of her fellow north Dubliners.

It may surprise music fans should this talented singer
and guitarist go the way of Imelda May and attract the attention of the masses,
but it is something truly deserved and hopefully imminent.

Those who like to be ahead of the crowd should follow
Candice Gordon on Twitter and Facebook to see what all the fuss is about,
before the world and its mother catches on.
