THERE aren’t many 13-year-olds who can boast that
they’ve starred in Oscar and IFTA nominated films.
But that’s just what East Wall schoolboy Scott Graham
can lay claim to.

The first-year student at St Joseph’s Secondary School
in Fairview has in recent weeks been catapulted into the world of glitz,
glamour and award ceremonies after his film

‘Cluck’ was nominated for an IFTA
and short film

‘Pentecost’, in which he starred in the leading role, was
nominated for an Oscar.

Interviews

On top of all this, Scott has been juggling interviews
with the media and appearances on the Late Late Show but he insists he’s
keeping his feet firmly on the ground.

“I wouldn’t say I’m a big star but being in films
nominated for an IFTA and an Oscar is pretty cool,

? he told Northside People.

“I’ve been in films before and I do the voiceover for
the BBC series

‘Roy’ but my world’s just got crazy since the films were
nominated for the IFTA and Oscar.

Scott plays the lead role of Damien Lynch in the
11-minute comedy

‘Pentecost’ which tells the story of a young altar boy who is
offered the chance to serve at an important mass in his small town.

It’s his chance to redeem himself after his last turn
as altar boy two weeks prior, when he knocked Father O’Toole off the altar.

Passion

If he does the job right this time around, the ban his
father has placed on his passion – soccer – will be lifted, just in time for
him to see his favourite team in its first European Cup Final.

The film is nominated in the Best Short Film Action
category. The awards take place on February 26.

Scott hopes that his success might some day mirror
that of Brendan Gleeson who is a past pupil of St Joseph’s.

It’s certainly not out of the question, according to
Scott’s proud father Paul.

“Scott’s just a really good kid,

? says Paul.

“He’s
very funny and gets on with everyone which is part of the reason why he’s so
good at acting.

“We’re so, so proud of him as always. We’re proud of
him no matter what he does.

Supportive

“We’re very grateful to his principal Gerry Cullen and
the staff of St Joseph’s who have been so flexible, understanding and
supportive of Scott.

So where to next for the young and talented star?

“I don’t know really,

? adds Scott.

“I suppose I’ll get through school first and see what
happens then. I’d love to see myself doing a feature film.

“My mam wants me to be up there with George Clooney.
My dad wants me to be up there with Angelina Jolie but I’d prefer to be up
there with Megan Fox!
