Jobs boost for the Southside
Dublin People 22 Jan 2012
A TOTAL of 30 new jobs created on the Southside have
been added to over 40 others announced in recent weeks.
In Carrickmines, Sysnet Global Solutions have expanded
operations at their headquarters with a
?¬1.34 million research and development
programme.
This will see the information security and services
company create 30 new high value jobs in Dublin and eight in their overseas
network.
The new jobs will bring total employment in Sysnet in
Ireland to 111 by 2014 and global employment to 135 by the same date.
Speaking as he visited the firm’s headquarters last
week, the Minister for Jobs, Enterprise and Innovation, Richard Bruton TD, said
the expansion was supported by the Government through Enterprise Ireland.
“If we are to get out of this crisis and create the
levels of employment we need, we must create an indigenous engine of economic
growth,
? he said.
“Indigenous companies provide proportionately three times
more benefit to the Irish economy than multinational companies.
?
The announcement was welcomed by local TDs including
Deputy Olivia Mitchell (FG), who described it as a vote of confidence in the
workforce and in the Southside as a great location in which to do business.
“This announcement is particularly welcome in the
context of economic uncertainty and in which every new job is hard won,
? she
said.
“High-end research and development jobs are precisely
the kind this Government is promoting and which are needed to get the economy
back on track.
?
Established in 1989, Sysnet is a leading provider of
information security and assurance services worldwide.
The company has continued to grow its international
business over the past six years, and the new development will enable them to
expand into new export markets.
Gabriel Moynagh, Chief Executive Officer, said:
“We are very excited about this next stage in
our development and the many opportunities now available for us to continue to
grow the business.
?
The latest good news on the employment front comes
after 43 new jobs were created in Government supported start-up companies in
Belfield, Stillorgan and Sandyford.
Tethras Technology Ltd, which develops software for
mobile application developers, is creating 16 new jobs in Belfield; Sim Travel,
which provides local SIM cards for visitors to Ireland to call overseas, is
creating 14 new jobs in Sandyford; and Cab Call Communications Ltd, which has
developed an automated location-based dispatch system for the taxi industry, is
creating 13 new jobs in Stillorgan.
“This is a welcome boost to the local economy,
? Deputy
Peter Mathews (FG) said.
“Last August, 85 new jobs were announced on the
Southside. This provides hope for the many unfortunate people that are
unemployed. I am delighted to see that businesses are reacting to the
improvement in competitiveness by expanding their workforce.
