STUDENTS from
Holy Child Killiney are pictured at the opening weekend of the Dún Laoghaire
Christmas Festival.

They managed to
raise

?¬3,000 to support St Vincent de Paul and purchase gifts for 16 local
families as part of their toy appeal.

Rather than
shopping for gifts in different locations, the students decided that all funds
raised should be spent in the Dún Laoghaire area to support local business and
community.

According to
Ellen Moiselle, the chaplain at Holy Child School Killiney:

“The school’s motto
is

‘Actions not Words’ and the students undertook this initiative make a
difference.

“The students
were delighted to raise money for such a great cause and were excited to be
doing something to support local shopping at the same time.

The school
supports St Vincent de Paul each year as part of the social outreach programme
which features the Annual Charity Walk, the Christmas Hamper Day and the Toy Appeal. We’re delighted to give to charity and to
help support local businesses in Dun Laoghaire at the same time.

The Dun
Laoghaire Business Association offered 10% discount to the students and
congratulated their efforts in helping to support local business.
