Julia celebrates nursing home award

A BALBRIGGAN Nursing Home enjoyed great success at the
Nursing Homes Ireland Care Awards 2011.

Julia Thurmann, a resident at the Hamilton Park Care
Facility, claimed the Nursing Home Resident Achievement Award.

Julia was honoured at a prestigious ceremony that was
attended by over 500 people from the sector and beyond.

Hamilton Park Care Facility can be extremely proud of
its participation at the NHI Care Awards, as its employee Deborah Lynch was a
finalist in the Nursing Home Director of Nursing/Person in Charge Award.

Another north Dublin nursing home staff member, Winnet
Mafati, from St Doolagh’s Park Care Centre, Balgriffin, was a finalist for the
Nursing Home Ancillary Worker Award.

The awards, in association with Homecare Medical
Supplies, were open to those working and living within the 330-plus registered
nursing homes across the country that are members of Nursing Homes Ireland.

Speaking on stage to event MC Marty Whelan, Julia
explained:

“Coming to a nursing home was a very difficult experience for me but
the staff and management have made it very easy for me to adapt.

“I’m chuffed and very thankful for the acknowledgment
first of all by my nursing manager Deborah Lynch and then the acknowledgement
by Nursing Homes Ireland.

Angela Moran, Assistant Director of Nursing at
Hamilton Park Care Facility, said all in the home were very proud of Julia’s
achievement and also paid tribute to Deborah Lynch.

“She is our role model and dedicated to
patient-centred care,

? stated Ms Moran.

Tadhg Daly, chief executive of Nursing Homes Ireland,
extended his congratulations to Julia and the Dublin finalists.

“To be a winner at the NHI Care Awards Finals is a
fantastic honour and I extend my congratulations to Julia for taking home the
very prestigious Nursing Home Resident Achievement Award,

? he said.

“The standard of entry was remarkably high and to win
this national award is something Julia, those at Hamilton Park Care Facility
and the wider Balbriggan community should be very proud of.

“Julia, like
thousands of people across the country, is a very valued member of the nursing
home community and is making a very valuable contribution towards her home.
