Jobs boost for the Northside
Dublin People 05 Nov 2011
THERE
was some good news on the Northside jobs front last week with the creation of
over 350 new positions in two separate developments.

The
AIM Group, one of Ireland’s largest independent wholesalers and the holder of
the master franchise of Iceland supermarkets, invested a further
?¬3 million
into the retail chain that will lead to the opening of four more stores.
The
announcement was made at the opening of Iceland’s new 8,000 sq ft Coolock store
in Greencastle Parade on Friday.
This
will see the immediate creation of 40 new jobs for the local area.
Iceland
will open four more stores across the country at key locations in Dublin,
Tipperary, Meath and Carlow throughout November.
Further
store openings will be announced in early 2012.
Chief
Executive, Tom Keogh, said:
“Our plans are very much on track since our initial
announcement 12 months ago.
“We
are thrilled to be in a position to open our new store in Coolock, which fits
very neatly in our strategic pathway for the roll out of Iceland stores across
Ireland in 2011 and 2012.
He
added:
“Today’s announcement will see us commit to $3 million in terms of store
leases, fit outs and the creation of over 200 jobs. These jobs have been
created directly from the immediate area where each store is located. The
remaining jobs have been created at our new distribution centre and operations
base situated in Greenogue Business Park in Rathcoole, Co Dublin.

Meanwhile,
Minister for Transport, Tourism and Sport, Deputy Leo Varadkar (FG) welcomed the
announcement of 150 new jobs at Dublin Aerospace.
“This
is excellent news for Dublin, and particularly for the large number of skilled
aviation technicians affected by the closure of SR Technics,
? he said.
“Some 45
jobs will be created immediately, with the remainder being recruited over the
next two years.
