HEALTH
Minister James Reilly was in Glasnevin earlier this month to officially open a
new state-of-the-art primary care clinic.

Cremore
Clinic provides a wide range of general practice and specialist services
including cardiac health screening, diabetes risk checks and smear tests.

A minor
operating theatre also features in the new development for procedures like the
removal of skin lesions, implanting of long acting contraceptives like mirena
and implanon and a range of other minor operations.

The new
centre has special clinics to treat menopause and STIs and to deliver travel
vaccinations. Team members include a dietician, a physiotherapist and a
psychiatrist and the clinic plans to provide mental health clinics, health and
nutrition classes, baby nutrition clinics, chiropody and counselling.

The
Cremore Clinic has been serving the Ballygall and Glasnevin area for just over
20 years and new building was developed by GP partners Dr Nuala O’Farrell, Dr
Iain Morrison and Dr Fiona Dennehy.

Minister
Reilly commended the clinic’s medical team for embracing the latest best
practice in the delivery of primary care in the community.

“The
investment is an example of how clinicians provide enhanced and integrated
general practice services of the highest calibre in the community and reduce
the need for expensive hospital services,

? he said.

Dr Nuala
O’Farrell explained the clinic’s approach to its work.

“As the
needs of our patients continue to change so too does our approach to primary
care in the community,

? she said.

“We are
committed to prevention and early detection of disease and we want to care for
people as much as possible in the community and in their own homes.

“The
opening of the Cremore Clinic represents a step forward in the delivery of
primary care to the people of Glasnevin. In addition to the traditional GP
service, now patients will have access to a broader range of services.
