Eibhin’s in tune with new TV show
Dublin People 16 Oct 2011
AN
Artane singer is one of the regular team members on RTE’s new teen programme
Sing.

Eibhin Eviston (27) teams up with Royseven lead singer Paul Walsh every
week to play the songs guessed by contestants and even sings a few herself.
“The
show is filmed over two hours, but we were there for the day each time,
mentoring the kids and making them feel calm,
? says Eibhin.
“It was
my first time on TV, these kids have amazing talent and are a joy to work
with.
?
But the
husky-voiced singer is no stranger to performing. She has written an album with
Swedish producer Lasse Anderson – well known for a hit with Emilia’s
‘I’m a
big, big girl’ – and gigs regularly around Dublin.
Eibhin,
who also works in the marketing department of An Post, has played at the Cork
Jazz Festival for the last two years and supported American R&B singer
India Arie at the Tripod on Harcourt Street.
And with
the determination she picked up from her father, former Shamrock Rovers player
Terry Eviston, she hopes this show will help her career.
“I’ve
been playing in piano bars like The Parlour Bar in Clontarf and Residence in
town for the past four years,
? she added.
“It was
a case of hard graft. Maybe from watching the show people will realise that
piano music is more than Elton John.
?
When
she’s not singing, Eibhin keeps fit running along the waterfront in Clontarf.
She says she loves this part of Dublin and even in the rain it gives her great
inspiration for songwriting.
Music
fans can see Eibhin live every Friday at the Unicorn Bar on Baggot Street.
‘Sing’
is broadcast on RTE 2 every Monday at 5.30pm until the end of November with
host Brian Ormond.
