Local choirs double up for combined concert
Dublin People 26 Sep 2011
TWO
award-winning Northside choirs are hoping for a sold-out show when they join
forces in a double bill of concerts this autumn.

The Balbriggan
Community Show Choir and the North Dublin Community Gospel Choir will share the
stage at the Hilton Airport Hotel on September 30, and again the following
night, October 1, at the Bracken Court Hotel in Balbriggan.
The two
choirs, comprising a total of 60 women, have already proven themselves a
winning combination when they won two prizes in the AIMS Choral Festival in
Wexford earlier this year.
Under the
capable hand of musical director Jonathan Davies Wright, the combined choir
were awarded first place in the Gospel Choir competition and second prize in
the Ladies’ competition.
Anyone who has
seen the sister choirs singing together or separately comes away impressed by
their fun, energetic performance style that invariably gets audiences dancing
in the aisles.
The two choirs
have also impressed musical peers internationally, and will be joined for their
concerts by special guests the Sofia Gospel Choir, who will travel over from
Stockholm for the events.
At the end of
October, the combined Northside choirs will be supporting the world famous
Harlem Gospel Choir at a special event in the National Concert Hall.
Then in
November, the choirs will compete in the Sligo Choral Festival against Irish
and international choirs.
