19 North Dublin students receive scholarship awards at ceremony in DCU

Nineteen students from North Dublin were presented with scholarship awards by Dublin City University at a ceremony today to celebrate memorial and endowed scholarships.

In total, 47 students received awards named in honour of individuals and organisations who have played a key role in the life of Dublin City University and Irish society.

Awards presented to North Dublin students included:

The Orla Benson Memorial Scholarship was presented to Grace Colley from Raheny.

The Colm Delves Memorial Scholarship was presented to Alya Al Fahdi from Garristown.

The Charles Haughey Memorial Scholarships were awarded to Aicha Halfaoui and Faruq Aloba from Coolock.

The Stephen Moran Volkswagen Memorial Scholarship was awarded to Wojciech Karatysz from Phibsborough.

The TJ O’Driscoll Memorial Scholarship was presented to Glen Bonnie from Coolock and Anastacia Caraman from Santry.

The Endowed Marianna O’Dwyer Access Scholarship was awarded to Ruth Alimi from Hollystown.

The Feargal Quinn Memorial Scholarship was awarded to Adam McLoughlin from Ballymun.

The Endowed Larry and Pauline Quinn Access Scholarships were awarded to Caitlin Farrell Harte from Ballymun and Leanora Magjypi from Dublin 7.

The Paddy J Wright Memorial Scholarships were awarded to Reece Cox from Coolock, Aoife Hyland and Erin Brennan from Ballymun, Boon Chin Look and Conor O’Kelly from Finglas, Caroline Rawlings from Kilbarrack, and Dublin GAA-player Chloe Darby from Coolock.

The Ulster Bank Access Scholarship was awarded to Najim Abdallah from Artane.

Speaking at the event, Joe Quinsey, CEO of DCU Educational Trust commented:

“We are delighted to celebrate the students who receive memorial and endowed scholarships today, and to honour those who created those scholarships, and our friends and loved ones who are remembered through them.

“The talent and promise of these students are truly a source of great hope for the future.”

The 47 scholarship recipients were selected based on different criteria, depending on the wishes of those who created the scholarship.

These include undergraduate students supported by DCU’s Access Programme, postgraduate students in the fields of Biotechnology, Accounting, Law and Journalism, and students with outstanding sporting achievements.
