National Pyjama Day fun raises over €133,350 for children in Dublin

Early Childhood Ireland has announced that over €133,350 (€133,357.44) was raised during Ireland’s cosiest fundraiser, National Pyjama Day 2026.

Over 16,000 children and educators in 290 Early Years and School Age Care in Dublin wore their favourite pyjamas with a purpose earlier this year all in the spirit of children helping children.

Through a fun-filled day of nature adventure hunts, teddy bear picnics, storytelling, and more, the generosity of these children, educators and families helped raise vital funds to make a meaningful difference for children and babies across Ireland.

Since the first National Pyjama Day in 2003, over €4.8 million has been raised for a host of charitable causes that support babies and children all over Ireland.

Commenting on the success of this year’s event, Teresa Heeney, CEO of Early Childhood Ireland, said, “We’re delighted to announce the significant funds raised during National Pyjama Day 2026 which will create lasting, positive change for children nationwide.

We are incredibly grateful to our members across Dublin for making this a memorable day for the children and their generous families.”

National Pyjama Day donations will contribute to the delivery of Early Childhood Ireland’s Eco-Emotions project – a first-of-its-kind eco-initiative that empowers children to reconnect with nature and themselves.

Ms Heeney explained, “Funds raised through National Pyjama Day play a key role in delivering our Eco-Emotions programme.

“Thanks to continued support, we will be able to provide additional supports including immersive nature workshops for Early Years and School Age Care educators, ensuring that more children are empowered on their Eco-Emotions journey.”

Contributions will also support this year’s charity partner, LauraLynn, Ireland’s Children’s Hospice, to provide vital Family Support services, ensuring families can access high-quality care.

Commenting on the impact funds raised will have for LauraLynn, Kerry McLaverty, CEO of LauraLynn, said, “We are so thankful to every child, family and setting who took part in National Pyjama Day.

“The generosity and joy behind this special day will make a real difference, helping us to continue to provide specialist care and support to children with life-limiting conditions and their families across Ireland.

“It’s a wonderful example of children helping children, and we are proud to partner with Early Childhood Ireland on this wonderful fundraiser.”
