Dublin City Council launches ‘Dublin Nights Mapped’: a new interactive guide to the city after 6pm

Dublin City Council, with the support of the Department of Culture, Communications and Sport, has launched ‘Dublin Nights Mapped’, a new interactive map showcasing things to do in Dublin after 6pm – from late cafés and cultural spaces to activities and free outdoor spots.

Featuring almost 100 locations, ‘Dublin Nights Mapped’ brings together the best of Dublin’s evening and night-time offer on a single, easy-to-use Google Map.

The initiative highlights a broad range of options that go beyond traditional night-time activity, supporting a more diverse, inclusive and vibrant city after dark.

‘Dublin Nights Mapped’ is a curated list compiled by Dublin City Council’s Night-Time Economy Advisor and hosted on Google Maps.

More details, including a link to the map, can be found at www.dublinnights.ie

Speaking about the initiative, the Lord Mayor of Dublin Councillor Ray McAdam said: “Dublin Nights Mapped is a great example of how we can showcase the city’s rich cultural and social life after 6pm.

“It highlights the diversity of experiences on offer and encourages people to see and use the city in new ways in the evening and at night.”

The map will operate as a living, breathing resource, regularly updated on the Google Maps platform as new venues, activities and experiences emerge.

Speaking today, Minister for Culture, Communications and Sport, Patrick O’Donovan said:

“The Night-Time Economy should offer a range of activities that are inclusive, diverse and reflective of today’s trends and society.

“I am delighted to be supporting this positive initiative, which furthers this objective and showcases the wide range of cultural activities and options for an alternative night out in the city.”

Dublin City Council’s Night-Time Economy Advisor Ray O’Donoghue said:

“This project came about after Google approached me to curate a map. As we began putting it together, we realised just how much there is to do in Dublin after 6pm that isn’t focused on alcohol.

“This is absolutely not anti-alcohol — it’s simply a guide to the many great ways people can experience the city in the evening and at night.

“That might mean a late café, a cultural event, indoor golf, pottery painting, or simply walking around the city and seeing it differently.”

Dublin Nights Mapped aligns with Dublin City’s Night-Time Strategy, which aims to foster collaboration between cultural organisations, venues and creatives, create new synergies, and enhance Dublin’s overall evening and night-time experience for residents and visitors alike.

“We hope to continue building on this map over time, and we’d encourage venues, organisations and businesses that aren’t yet included to get involved,” the Night-Time Economy Advisor added.

Micromedia is the official media partner, providing promotional support across the city through its large-format digital networks.

To mark the launch of ‘Dublin Nights Mapped’, Free Now is offering a 25% discount on journeys taken between 6pm and 12am, using the promo code DUBMAPPED, helping people travel around the city more easily while exploring Dublin after dark.

Venues or activities wishing to be considered for inclusion can contact the team at mapped@dublin.ie.
