Westlife’s Nicky Byrne officially starts Christmas at CHI Crumlin with 9-year-old Harry and 13-year-old Féile

Dublin People 02 Dec 2025

Westlife’s Nicky Byrne brought festive cheer to some very special patients when he turned on the festive lights at Children’s Health Ireland, Crumlin Hospital yesterday evening.

The special event was part of Children Health Foundation’s Christmas fundraising campaign, “Save a Smile” and Nicky was joined by nine-year-old patient Harry McCormack from Ballyfermot and Féile O’Sullivan, a 13-year-old patient from Cork.

Nicky Byrne said: “I was delighted to be asked to join Harry and Féile in switching on the lights this year at this wonderful hospital where every day everyone who works here makes a difference to the lives of children and their families.”

In a statement, Children Health Foundation said:

“We’re delighted to have Harry, one of our wonderful young patients, as the face of this year’s Children’s Health Foundation’s Save a Smile Christmas campaign.

“It is a timely reminder that, for all the families enjoying Christmas at home, hundreds of children will be spending Christmas in one of the Children’s Health Ireland hospitals. We want every child, wherever they may be, to feel some magic of the season.

“Thanks to the generosity of our supporters, CHF can support with festive decorations, toys, and special Christmas events across CHI hospitals and urgent care centres.

Save a Smile captures the warmth, generosity, and hope that donations bring to children and families cared for at Children’s Health Ireland hospitals and urgent care centres in Crumlin, Temple Street, Tallaght, and Connolly.”

Support the appeal today at childrenshealth.ie or text SAVEASMILE to 50300 to donate €4.
