Council seeks expressions of interest to join Local Community Safety Partnerships

Padraig Conlon 04 Nov 2025

Dublin City Council is seeking expressions of interest from individuals and organisations who are passionate about working together to make Dublin safer and more inclusive for all.

The Council is setting up five Local Community Safety Partnerships (LCSPs) one in each of the administrative areas of the City Council.

The five administrative areas are South East, South Central, Central, North West and North Central.

The Council is seeking expressions of interests over the next three weeks from community members to join the LCSP in each area.

Community representation is a vital aspect of making the new community safety approach effective.

To that end, each LCSP will include a minimum of four residents, as well as others from the community and voluntary sectors.

Local Community Safety Partnerships are a new whole-of-Government initiative, established under the Policing, Security and Community Safety Act 2024 and which are replacing the previous Joint Policing Committee structures.

The key principle of the LCSP is that community safety is not the sole responsibility of An Garda Siochána but also involves other key Government agencies working collaboratively across a range of areas including health, youth and social services, while also being informed and guided by the local community, focussing on the safety issues that are most important to them.

LCSPs will identify and prioritise local safety concerns, develop local community safety plans and coordinate multi-agency efforts to implement a cohesive response to issues of community safety.

In so doing each LCSP aims to increase community confidence in state services and, most importantly, make people feel safer in their communities.

Membership and Representation

Membership is capped at 30 individuals and representation will include Government agencies, including health, social services, local authorities and An Garda Siochána.

Community membership will include a minimum of four residents, one youth representative, one business representative, one from the voluntary sector and members of new communities.

Dublin City Council is, from today, seeking expressions of interest from residents and other community representatives who have an interest in community safety and who are willing to either participate in or work with an LCSP in their area.

This is an opportunity to collaborate with local services and agencies to co-create safer communities for all. Therefore, Dublin City Council is particularly keen to hear from residents, minority and new communities, representatives of community and voluntary organisations and youth groups.

Interested individuals are invited to complete the expression of interest form here.

The final date for submission is Friday 21 Nov at 5pm.
