Padraig Conlon 01 Jul 2025
Dogs Trust Ireland has announced that Councillor Emma Blain has been appointed as the official Dogs Trust Ireland Pawlitical Ambassador for 2025, following her recent visit as Lord Mayor of Dublin to the charity’s Rehoming Centre in Finglas.
The Dogs Trust Ireland Pawlitical Ambassador role is a voluntary and symbolic position, designed to celebrate and support public representatives who champion the rights and welfare of dogs.
As a dedicated dog owner and lifelong dog lover, Councillor Blain was a natural choice for the first ever Pawlitical Ambassador role.
As part of this honorary role, Councillor Emma Blain has pledged the following: “Every dog deserves to live a safe, healthy, and fulfilled life. As a Dogs Trust Ireland Pawlitical Ambassador, I pledge to be a proud ambassador for Dogs Trust Ireland.
“I pledge to take every opportunity, in my capacity as a public representative, to promote a culture of responsible dog ownership, and to make life better for dogs and their owners.”
Speaking about the honour, Councillor Blain said: “It is a true honour to be named the official Dogs Trust Ireland Pawlitical Ambassador for 2025.
“As a proud dog owner, this cause is especially close to my heart. Dogs Trust Ireland carries out vital, life-changing work – rehoming and caring for hundreds of dogs across the country every year.
“I am proud to support their work and to play my part in promoting a culture of responsible dog ownership and helping create a better life for dogs and their owners.”
Sarah Lynch, Policy, Compliance and Research Manager at Dogs Trust Ireland added: “We are delighted to welcome Councillor Emma Blain as our first Pawlitical Ambassador.
“Her passion for dog welfare and her active role in public service make her an ideal representative of the values we strive to promote.
“We look forward to working closely with Councillor Blain throughout the year ahead.”
