Sinn Féin councillors table emergency motion ahead of council meeting

Sinn Féin councillors on Dublin City Council have tabled an emergency motion demanding that Minister for Housing James Browne immediately provide funding for Dublin City Council to build homes.
The motion calls for funding to be freed up, which they say will allow tcouncils to build homes “without any further delays.”

Sinn Féin leader on Dublin City Council Daithí Doolan said “the announcement by the Minister for Housing to delay the construction of social housing in Dublin is a disaster for the city.”
“This decision will block housing on three sites totalling 264 homes,” he said.”
“Sinn Féin have tabled an emergency motion for this Monday’s Dublin City Council meeting demanding immediate action to allow these homes proceed without further delays.”
“I would strongly urge councillors from all political parties stand up for Dublin and support this important motion.”
“It is unacceptable that the government are now actively preventing housing being built at a time of spiralling homelessness and a deepening housing crisis; it just shows how removed from reality this government has become,” the Ballyfermot-Drimnagh councillor said.
“Our motion calls on the government to immediately provide funding straight to Dublin City Council, allowing us to deliver housing directly with developers without further delays.”
