Celtic FC Captain Callum McGregor visited JD Sports in Jervis Street along with teammates Adam Idah and Liam Scales for the Dublin launch of the inaugural Cork Super Cup.

The trio met fans just days after celebrating winning the Scottish Premiership for a fourth consecutive time.
Celtic can win an historic treble within one season of Scottish League Cup, Scottish Premiership and Scottish Cup if they overcome Aberdeen at Hampden Park on May 24.
Callum McGregor said: “We set our targets at the start of the season, can we win everything that we’re in, and the Scottish Cup final gives us the next opportunity to bring that home as well.
“So the players are super motivated to do well and when you get to the Cup Final then you have to do a lot right to try to bring the trophy home and that’s exactly what we’re trying to do.”
The three Celtic players also took the opportunity to talk about their summer visit to Leeside for the inaugural Cork Super Cup, which will see their team take on Cork City FC in SuperValu Páirc Uí Chaoimh on July 8.
Adam Idah, who is originally from Cork, said he ‘cannot wait’ to return to his home city and play at SuperValu Páirc Uí Chaoimh.
Adam said: “It is amazing for me to be going back home as I haven’t played in Cork for so long and it is fantastic to be playing a game at SuperValu Páirc Uí Chaoimh where I used to go and watch hurling and football games when I was young.
“It is going to be a fantastic day and I hope everyone comes along to see it.”
It’s estimated that the economic return from the fixture could be in the region of €6 million for Cork.
The organisers of the Cork Super Cup 2025 are engaging with local businesses to create a unique atmosphere for visitors to the city.
The Cork Super Cup is a joint initiative between Cork GAA and sports marketing agency Druid Sport to bring another record-breaking mid-summer event to the stadium.
The match will only be the third ever soccer match to be staged at the historic grounds, and the first competitive men’s game.
The winners will lift a specially commissioned Cork Super Cup trophy, designed by former Cork GAA legend Ger McCarthy.
