The Sixth UNESCO Dublin Learning City Festival was launched this morning by the Lord Mayor of Dublin Emma Blain at the Hugh Lane Gallery.

The Dublin Learning City Festival will take place over the course of three days, from April 7th – 9th,  with 200 free events taking place across the City, it will showcase a wide range of both in-person and online events that encourage lifelong learning.

Celebrating the theme – Create, Connect, Change, learners from across Dublin shared their experiences of access pathways and educational supports with those attending this morning’s event.

The launch also included an art exhibition by the Connecting Artists Collective, a group of intellectually disabled or nuerodiverse artists, who are engaged with Connections Arts Centre.

The Exhibition featured seven works by six artists.

Speaking at the Launch, the Lord Mayor of Dublin Emma Blain remarked “From CV Clinics to Wellness Workshops, lectures on Irish Cinema to sports psychology, gardening to Balkan folk dance, I think it is fair to say this Festival has something for everyone.

“By providing inclusive and flexible learning opportunities, we actively create pathways for all Dubliners to reach their fullest potential.”

Dublin Learning City co-chair Denise McMorrow said “It’s fantastic to say that today we are launching our sixth year of the Dublin Learning City Festival, and with over 200 free events for members of the public to take part it in, it’s our biggest and best festival yet.

“This year, we’re inviting the city of Dublin to Create meaningful spaces for learning, Connect with one another, in doing so, effect positive Change in our communities.”

All events taking place as part of the Dublin Learning City Festival are free to attend, but some require registration of attendance.
