This Valentine’s Day, Dogs Trust is on a mission to help three special rescue dogs find the loving homes they deserve.

These ‘’underdogs’’ – an affectionate term the charity uses for their long-term residents – are Chewbaka, a Lurcher, and two Collie crosses: Bobby and Oscar Wilde.

To help these, and many other deserving dogs, find their forever homes, the charity is hosting The Lonely Hearts Club Adoption Event at their Rehoming Centre in Finglas.

Set to take place between 12pm and 4pm on Friday, February 14th, it’s the perfect opportunity for families to meet their four-legged soulmate. *

Attractions on the day will include a match-making booth and a special ‘speed dating’ showcase where attendees will be introduced to several dogs looking for their forever homes. The event is free to enter, and tickets can be booked at DogsTrust.ie/Event

Meet the three VIPs of the ‘Lonely Hearts’ Club

Chewbaka is a young, affectionate pup who bonds quickly and will make a loyal best friend.

This bouncy boy is full of enthusiasm and loves to discover new places, but might need some help with managing his excitement around other dogs.

He would thrive in a home where he’s the only pet so he can soak up all the attention for himself.

Like Chewbaka, Bobby is full of energy and intelligence, always eager to learn and explore.

Though Bobby is a little older, he hasn’t slowed down and loves nothing more than getting out for long walks in quiet areas where he can run to his heart’s content!

He would also prefer to be the only pet in the home as he can be worried by other dogs.

Named after the famous Irish poet and playwright, Oscar Wilde is a Collie with the most captivating eyes.

Oscar is incredibly affectionate and loves nothing more than cuddling with his people, even though he might come across as a little shy at first.

Being frightened by loud noises, Oscar would enjoy an adult only home and walks in quiet areas away from busy roads.

Communications Manager at Dogs Trust Ireland, Paulina Padlo said: ‘’While some dogs are lucky enough to find their forever families quickly, others can be overlooked because they might require special homes, or are particularly worried about the world around them, which makes it harder for them to find their perfect match.

“Chewbaka, Bobby, and Oscar Wilde are just three of our ‘Lonely Hearts’ who have lots of love to offer, if only they are given the chance.

“We hope our Valentine’s Day event helps them finally find the forever homes they’ve been waiting for.’’
