Students’ Union wishes Good Luck to Leaving Certificate 2024 students
Padraig Conlon 23 Aug 2024The Irish Second-Level Students’ Union is wishing the best of luck to students receiving their Leaving Certificate results today.
Students can access their results at 10am through the SEC Candidate Self Service Portal.
The ISSU campaigned for adjustments to the Leaving Certificate 2024 examinations as this cohort of students were disadvantaged having not sat their Junior Cycle examinations due to the COVID-19 Pandemic.
ISSU Uachtarán (President) Jack McGinn speaking today said:
“This is a monumental day for the Leaving Certificate Class of 2024.
“This cohort experienced COVID-19 lockdowns and online learning, alongside the usual challenges the Leaving Certificate brings.
“These unique challenges make this day even more special as it not only recognises their academic excellence, but also their growth as individuals.
“We recognise those continuing on to do apprenticeships, going into the working world, or further and higher education. Each path is as important as the other.
“I also wish to remind students of the free and confidential Leaving Certificate helpline, staffed by the IGC and supported by the ISSU, which opens today.
“You can contact the helpline on 1800 265 165.”
ISSU Oifigeach Oideachais (Education Officer) Emma Cox added:
“A huge congratulations to all receiving their results today across the country.
“As a member of the Class of 2024, I understand the struggles that we have faced throughout our time in second level education and I applaud everyone’s determination and resilience to reach this point. These values will stand to you in years to come”
The National Parents and Students Leaving Cert Helpline 1800 265 165 is a free and confidential service staffed by the Institute of Guidance Counsellors (IGC).
