Dogs Trust hosts ‘Paw-lypmics’ event to find homes for hopeful hounds
Padraig Conlon 01 Aug 2024To celebrate this year’s Olympics, Dogs Trust are hosting their own ‘Paw-lympics 2024’ in a bid to find the dogs in their care, world-class homes.
The charity is keen to highlight that every dog can be a champion, with a little love and training.
With over 200 dogs in their care, Dogs Trust is inviting members of the public interested in adopting or fostering a dog, to avail of a free ticket for this event.
The charity will have team members on hand to chat about the adoption or fostering process and match families with their new furry friend.
The dogs who are looking for homes will also be putting on a special showcase featuring their podium-worthy athletic abilities.
However, the charity is also highlighting that there are lots of dogs in their care who are more interested in being spectators than sports-stars and will happily snooze on the couch after a short bout of exercise.
Eimear Cassidy, Regional Rehoming Manager at Dogs Trust Ireland explains: “We have so many wonderful dogs in our care who are looking for their second chance.
“We are particularly interested in speaking to adult only families, families with older children, or families who would be interested in adopting larger breeds of dogs.
“Sadly, many of the dogs in our care have been through a lot of change in their lives, so they really need families who are willing to be patient with them as they learn to trust again.
“We see the wonderful potential in every single dog in our care. We know that they are absolutely capable of winning gold and their new families’ hearts, with a little time, love and understanding.”
