Revenue seize herbal cannabis worth €990,000 at Dublin Airport

Yesterday, as a result of risk profiling and with the assistance of detector dog Jack, Revenue officers seized 49.5kgs of herbal cannabis with an estimated value of €990,000 at Dublin Airport.

The cannabis was discovered concealed in vacuum-packed packages within the baggage of a passenger who had disembarked a flight originating from Thailand.

A man in his 30s was subsequently arrested by An Garda Síochána and detained overnight under Section 2 of the Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking) Act, 1996 at a Dublin Garda Station.

He has since been charged and is due to appear before the Criminal Courts of Justice (CCJ), Court No. 4, in Dublin this morning at approximately 10.30am.

Gardai say investigations are ongoing.
