Operation Twin Tracks – Day of Action aimed at preventing and detecting anti-social behaviour on DART, LUAS and Irish Rail Services

An Garda Síochána, in partnership with Iarnród Éireann/Irish Rail and Transdev Ireland (LUAS) operators are conducting a day-of-action today as part of Operation Twin Tracks which they say aims to prevent and detect anti-social behaviour on board public transport services.

With the support of personnel from both public transport providers, Gardaí will be conducting high visibility, proactive patrols of LUAS and DART services across the Dublin region throughout the day, as well as on several intercity Irish Rail services.

Local Crime Prevention Officers and Community Policing Gardaí will also be present in Pearse Street, Connolly and Heuston stations, and a number of regional stations to engage with commuters and provide guidance on crime prevention.

LUAS Red and Green Line and DART services in Dublin will be patrolled as well as Irish Rail routes ;

The eight intercity routes are:

  • Mayo/Roscommon/Longford: Ballyhaunis, Claremorris, Manulla Junction, Foxford, Ballina, Castlebar and Westport stations
  • Galway: Galway, Oranmore, Athenry, Attymon, Woodlawn, Ballinasloe and South from Athenry, Craughwell, Ardrahan and Gort
  • Sligo/Leitrim: Sligo, Colloney, Ballymote, Boyle, Carrick on Shannon, Dromod, Longford and Edworthstown
  • Kildare/Carlow: Newbridge, Kildare, Monasterevin, Athy and Carlow stations
  • Wicklow/Wexford: Bray, Greystones, Wicklow, Rathdrum, Arklow, Gorey, Enniscorthy, Wexford, and Rosslare stations
  • Limerick and Tipperary: Limerick, Limerick Junction, Castledonnell, Birdhill, Nenagh, Cloughjordan, Roscrea, Ballbrophy, Templemore, Thurles, Tipperary, Cahir, Clonmel and Carrick on Suir
  • Cork City, North and West: Charleville, Mallow, Banteer, Millstreet, Rathmore, Glounthane, Cobh and Midleton stations.
