The Dublin Simon Busk to be streamed at 7.30pm on Christmas Eve

Padraig Conlon 23 Dec 2022

The Dublin Simon Christmas Eve Busk will return to the streets for the first time in three years on December 24th.

However, drawing on the success of the internationally-streamed Busk in December 2021, this year will be a hybrid in-person/streaming model, to bring the magic of the Busk into the homes of people who can’t be there on the night.

Speaking about this year’s Busk, Head of Fundraising & Communications Aisling Harmey said the organisation is encouraging as many people as possible to tune in to the stream this year:

“We are encouraging as many people as possible to join us online for this year’s Christmas Eve Busk.

While we are really excited to be running a live event this year for the first time post-Covid, we would advise people that space is extremely limited on the street and the stream will allow people enjoy the magic from the comfort of home.

“We’d like to thank all the artists and supporters – The Collective, FUEL and of course Glen Hansard who are all working tirelessly to put together what promises to be an amazing fundraising and awareness event for the record-breaking number of people who will spend this Christmas in homelessness.

If you are in a position to donate, please do so at www.dubsimon.ie. ”

While the line-up for this year’s Busk will remain under wraps until the event, the homeless charity is also encouraging people to purchase ‘The Busk’ vinyl.

This high-quality audio recording of last year’s Busk in St Patrick’s Cathedral, is on sale now for €27.95 at www.thebuskrecord.com and in selected retailers including Tesco and Golden Discs, both of whom have kindly waived proceeds from the record to ensure funds go towards Dublin Simon Community’s life-saving services.

Tune in this Christmas Eve at 7.30pm at www.thebuskrecord.com and please donate what you can to www.dubsimon.ie.
