Pillow Queens at Vicar Street: Triumphant opening night for one of Ireland’s best

Dublin rockers Pillow Queens launched their Irish tour on Saturday, October 1 in front of a sold out and jubilant Vicar Street crowd.

With two critically acclaimed records under their belt and a devoted but growing fan base, Pillow Queens are considered one Ireland’s best contemporary acts – and for good reason.

Ripping through their catalogue with the gusto and vigour of a band with the world at their feet, the four-piece seamlessly blend wailing, ragged-edged guitar riffs with angelic harmonies, pulling the best from both without sacrificing the impact of either.

Fan-favourite tracks such as ‘Brothers’, ‘HowDoILook’, and ‘Holy Show’ were arguably the highlights of the highlight-filled show while the roaring ‘Liffey’ brought the concert to a close after a three-song encore.

A passionate and engaging performance was certainly echoed by the crowd who gave back as much energy as they received from the first song to the last.

With no signs of slowing down and their popularity only increasing, it feels like Pillow Queens are creating something special, something that could see them become one of the world’s biggest bands sooner rather than later.
